K9 Bear

USAR K9 Bear

K9 Bear:

Bear is a 5 year old black lab recovery search dog with the Idaho Disaster Dogs Team.

Bear and his handler Bridget have a truly amazing bond that they have built over the years of training together. They have traveled to train at the National Disaster Search Dog Foundation as well as train with other local agencies.

They dedicate countless hours training not only to expand their knowledge and skills but to strengthen their communication and trust in new environments and with new experiences. They work together to increase efficiency and uphold safety for one another.

Bear is one of the most calm labs you will ever meet. His obedience and sweet personality will steal your heart. However when it’s time to work, it’s like flipping a switch and Bear is ready to go. You can see how much he loves his job by his focus and true happiness to be working.

When Bear is not working he loves to play ball and and be with his handler. The words “work” and “find” have to be used carefully otherwise Bear is at the door or at the truck ready to go. After every training Bear runs and barks in his sleep. He truly loves his job.

CritterDoc Corner:

June is National Pet Preparedness Month. In cases of a fire, natural disaster or other emergencies, you should be prepared in case your pet gets injured, lost or has to be evacuated. Take the time now to develop and review an emergency plan. The first step is to have your pet microchipped and make sure the registered contact information is current. If your pet is lost you can notify the microchip registry and also local animal control and shelters. There is a complete checklist on the AVMA website to assist you in preparing a pet evacuation kit. Emergencies can happen, be prepared.

Murphy Gets A Job:

We are incredibly thankful for all of the support we have received. We would love to hear your feedback on the website, social media or amazon. We have been thrilled about the fundraiser, because it allows us to interact with the kids in the our community and beyond. We have done some readings at local schools, and all the kids have seemed to love it. They have especially loved meeting K9 Murphy. Big Thank You to Northwest Specialty Hospital. They purchased 300 books for us to take to school demos and donate to the kids. It was great to see the kids light up when we told them that the book was theirs to keep. Thank you to Northwest Specialty Hospital for providing this opportunity. Please feel free to tell your friends about the book. All of the profits go right back to supporting the training needs of these amazing dogs. The book is available on on our website by clicking here, Amazon and many other online retailers.

Thank You All. We couldn’t do this without your support.
